NOW ALL ABOUT UBUD

UBUD is considered in many ways Bali’s cultural heart.

Located in the cool mountains, just one hour’s drive to the north of the airport and the resorts of southern Bali, this traditional country town is home of one of Bali’s royal families.

Ubud is also a flourishing crafts center. Presently, there is no certainly as to when or even if the volcano will erupt.

Please be safe in the knowledge that Ubud is located approximately 51 km away from Mount Agung.

While the National Disaster Mitigation Agency has stated that residents and visitors should not be within a 9 km (5.6 Miles) radius and within a 12 km (7.5 Miles) to the North, North-East, South-East, and South/South-West of the mountain.

Around Ubud the surrounding villages like Campuhan, Penestanan, Payangan, Kedewatan, Tegallalang, Peliatan and Batuan specialize in crafts and woodcarving which are sold all over the island.

There are hundreds of shops selling antiques, woodcarvings, crafts, textiles, paintings and jewelry as well as some of the best art museums in the country, dozens of art studios, an excellent local craft market and galleries.

This upland town is best known as the island’s artistic and cultural, and it’s where most visitors go to when they have had enough of the sun, sea and sand found in the popular resort coastlines.

What Ubud lacks in coastline, it makes up for with green valleys and adventures into nature, as well as vibrant historical sites and an eclectic shopping scene.
